In reply to Jon L Miller. You can add a blank layer, you must have another setting or something that is conflicting. Also turn on sample all layers for certain tools, like the remove tool.

The new tools are great as I’ve been using them for quite some time as well as the beta version also. I do have 1 question, when ‘adding a new layer’ I get messages about the feature can’t be used because there is nothing there, so I have to do a edit fill 18% grey and use the blend mode overlay to get anything to work. Yet, I see various tutorials from other instructors using the blank layer and doing whatever they need to do, Does adding a blank layer only works with the adjustment tools only or what is the secret.
