I’m sure they said that because it causes a lot of problems and support issues if it’s not done correctly. But you can sync 1 collection no problem.

I use classic and sync my collections and use desktop on a second computer. This process is cumbersome due to multiple issues with sync fails and requires constant babysitting. This is further complicated because those collections are not available to other Adobe products and require separate storage, but that is another story…. Do you know why this is and do you have any best practices to help with the Sync? I do all my uploading via Classic and sync only the selected collections but I do like to be able to edit on my other computers the synced collections.

Yes.
What I actually do it plug my iphone into the USB, open photos and then import into Lightroom Classic, it treats the phone like a drive and its the fastest way to transfer the photos. If you have made adjustments in Lightroom, you can create a synched collection ( only 1 in Lightroom classic). You would have to add the photos to the synched collection in LR Mobile. If you haven’t made any edits, transferring from the phone is much easier.
