Photoshop and Lightroom integration

Photoshop and Lightroom are family

Watch this video to discover how to best work between Photoshop and Lightroom. Find out how to keep your Lightroom adjustments fully accessible from Camera Raw. We will take an image from Lightroom, to Photoshop, Camera Raw, back to Photoshop, back to Lightroom and then apply some automated adjustments based on what we have done.

At one time, photographers all used photoshop only. Then Photoshop, co-creator, Thomas Knoll created ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) over a weekend because he just got a digital camera and wanted to edit the raw files (True store). This was introduced as a separate plugin for Photoshop 7.0.1. August of 2002.  The next version of Photoshop v8 AKA CS included the plugin in the box.

Lightroom was announced as a public beta in 2006 (Because Apple Aperture was released) and officially launched in 19th Feb 2007. Since then, it has taken off like wildfire and photographers everywhere have been adopting it en mass. Most Photographers who adopted Lightroom, still use Photoshop as well and clearly understand the different roles, although of late, the lines are bing blurred. There are newer photographers who started on Lightroom and that’s all they know. These Photographers might be unaware of their need for Photoshop, or not even know what it’s capable of.

This little video helps both groups:

  1. those who are new to photoshop and
  2. those who have been using both Photoshop and Lightroom.

Watch the video and get an understanding of the round-trip power between Photoshop and Lightroom and how they integrate together. ACR and Lightroom have identical image processing controls. This video shows you how to transport your image between the 2 apps so that you can use the strengths of each.
